StudentsSHPE National Conference 2013 will take place in Indianapolis, IN, October 30 - November 3, 2013 The SHPE National Conference is the major event for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Inc.
Work involves functioning as a technical liaison between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to resolve quality issues, implement and monitor advanced quality planning, and provide technical support. Work is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of general practices and standards. Some guidance from the supervisor is available to handle unusual situations. Work involves giving technical direction or training to small groups of employees.
• Review/audit supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems
• Implement and monitor the part qualification and certification process with selected suppliers
• Function as liaison between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to resolve supplier quality issues and to provide technical support
• Determine cause of supplier quality problems and coordinate/implement effective and timely resolutions
• Improve quality performance of suppliers by conducting workshops at supplier locations, providing technical assistance in developing a quality system, or other technical support as required
• Assists in the implementation and monitoring of advanced quality planning with selected future product suppliers
• Assure supplier understanding of product and submission requirements
• Review and approve supplier quality plans on new part programs
• Maintain required documentation and files
• May determine part critical characteristics and required process controls
• May review tool, fixture and part design
• May participate as member or resource to product development teams
• Expediting parts for needing plants
• Work with different tiers to assure deliverables are met
• Communicate urgent issues to Supplier Quality Leadership
• Assure all process procedures are followed at all tiers

Requirements: Qualifications
• Proficient in print reading, and interpretation and part measurement
• Thorough understanding of industry standard technical specifications and electrical manufacturing processes
• Knowledge of AIAG standards (PFD, FMEA, Control Plans, APQP)
• Demonstrated knowledge of geometric design and tolerance and gage design and function
• Demonstrated knowledge of probability, statistical quality control and design of experiments
• Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing and assembly plant processes, procedures, facilities and equipment
• Knowledge of supplier quality standards, policies and procedures
• Demonstrated ability to investigate quality problems and to apply sound technical judgment to develop possible solutions
• Proficient oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and facilitate others in group situations
• High level of analytical ability to assess and identify appropriate alternative courses of action for definition and resolution of problems that are somewhat unique and diverse
• Ability to exercise independent judgment is required
• Ability to effectively organize and plan
Education and Training
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, quality or engineering
• Bachelor degree with a major in engineering or equivalent
• Proficient in circuit board manufacture and electronic assembly, IPC 610
• Knowledge of various electronic soldering processes, coil winding and rare earth metals
• Background in electrical performance and environmental testing - Military specifications or automotive GM3172
