Dear Members,

As you know two of the goals of our chapter for this year include to increase the number of professional members as well as to increase Corporate sponsorship. Friday October 24, Tanya, Ruben and myself met with a team at Eli Lilly Company. The team consisted of a representative from human resources and various Hispanic engineers at various locations in state working for Lilly. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss SHPE National but focusing in SHPE-Indiana Professional Chapter. 

We talked about the various events at the National and local level, opportunities for professional members to be involved in the community and/or for professional development. We also discussed the services the local chapter can provide and the advantage of having their engineers and company involved with our Professional Chapter. Eli Lilly is going to attend the National Conference at Phoenix in November and your chapter will be there to help maximize the benefits of the conference and make this a great experience for them.   We want to have more meetings like this one, so please get involved and let me know or any members of the EBOD how we can support your efforts.

Tanya Valencia SHPE Indiana assisted LA PLAZA at the program called "Madre and Hija"  with a presentation and workshop to young latinoe girls  about Enginnering fields.   The purpose of the workshop was to educate our young Latino audience on the engineering disciplines and make them aware of the exciting field of Engineering and Science.
